UMPS CARE Charities and U.S. Foods teamed up to hold the O.C. Run for Bears on May 3rd. This fundraiser is dedicated to providing memorable Build-A-Bear Workshop experiences for children with cancer and other serious illnesses. This group from U.S. Foods raised over $14,000 for the BLUE for Kids Hospital Program. The competition was fierce, with three participants bringing in over $1,000! While many of them were sleepers, fundraising hundreds of dollars in the last 48 hours, each runner raised at least $100 to help the team surpass their goal of $10,000.

A hospital stay can be a frightening time for children and their families. Major League Baseball umpires, sports team mascots and supporters of UMPS CARE team up to host Build-A-Bear Workshop experiences at children's hospitals across the country. Hospitalized children dress their cuddly friends while high-fiving the mascot and sharing a laugh with a major league umpire. With the money raised from the Run for Bears event, UMPS CARE Charities will host 12 children's hospital events in 2015, including one at the Children's Hospital of Orange County.
