2017 Chandler Run for Bears Recap

The 4th Annual Chandler Run for Bears was another success! The team came together on a beautiful Saturday morning to participate in the Chandler Chamber Ostrich Festival 5k. In addition, UMPS CARE Charities had a booth at the Health Expo and during the parade to help spread the word about what we do. Thanks to this dedicated fundraisers of all-stars, the event raised over $7,000 to support the programs and initiatives of UMPS CARE. Not to mention, six kids came out to participate.

A hospital stay can be a frightening time for children and their families. Major League Baseball umpires, MLB umpire wives, sports team mascots and supporters of UMPS CARE team up to host Build-A-Bear Workshop experiences at children's hospitals across the country. Hospitalized children dress their cuddly friends while high-fiving the mascot and sharing a laugh with a major league umpire. With the money raised from the Run for Bears event, UMPS CARE Charities will host 13 children's hospital events in 2017, including one at Phoenix Children's Hospital.
