WHAT: Safe at Home Golf Marathon. Join Major League Baseball (MLB) Umpire Tim Timmons and fellow caring supporters who will raise money for a wonderful cause and then play 100 holes of golf in one day. Making a difference in the lives of children awaiting adoption has never been so much fun!
WHERE: The Lakes Golf and Country Club in Westerville, Ohio. The 18-hole "Lakes" course features 7,106 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 74.1 and it has a slope rating of 134 on Bent grass. Designed by Ed Sneed, the Lakes golf course opened in 1990.
WHEN: Monday, August 10, 2009 beginning at 8:00am. A continental breakfast will be served in the morning followed by player introductions, a review of event rules, and group photo. Play begins at 8:30AM sharp and continues throughout the day. After 100 holes, golfers return to the clubhouse for a brief post-event celebration including dinner, drinks, and celebrity sports speaker.
WHY: To increase the adoptions of children waiting in Ohio’s foster care system and provide unique baseball experiences for children awaiting adoption across the country.
HOW: Each marathon golfer will raise $2500 by asking family, friends, and business contacts to pledge financial support by way of a “per-hole” sponsorship. UMPS CARE Charities will provide fundraising support to help you reach your goal – including a personal Web page that allows people to make credit-card donations in support of your efforts and sample e-mail/letter templates. Then the rest is up to you on the golf course.
