Our inaugural UMPS CARE Charities Fairway to the Rockies Golf Tournament was a huge success!

Hosted by retired Major League Baseball Umpire Paul Emmel, the event featured a tremendous crowd and gorgeous weather and lots of fun at the beautiful Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course in Castle Rock, Colorado, just outside Denver.

Proceeds from the event will support UMPS CARE Charities and our various programs right in the Denver area. Every year, we make an annual stop at Children’s Hospital Colorado, where we deliver 100 Build-A-Bear stuffed toys. We also provide college scholarships to children adopted later in life – one of our recent recipients just graduated from Colorado Christian University and another one will be a sophomore there this fall.

In addition to Paul, we also MLB call-up umpire Alex MacKay on hand, and Denver Broncos great Randy Gradishar joining in the fun. Randy is one of the NFL’s Hall of Fame Inductees this year.

“UMPS CARE has been important to me for many, many years,” said Paul Emmel, who is the charity’s secretary. “Our charity was started in 2006 as a way for the Major League Baseball umpires to give back to the communities in which we work and where we live. The Fairway to the Rockies Golf Tournament this year is just the start of more giving back to the people right here in Colorado.”
