Don’t miss out!

Limited spots remain for the 5th Annual Eric Cooper Memorial Bowling Tournament Presented by the Iowa Cubs is NOW OPEN!

Join us for an incredibly fun night at Gameday Lanes in Des Moines on Sunday, November 23 from 4 PM to 7 PM. This event chonors the memory of MLB Umpire Eric “Coop” Cooper, who hailed from Des Moines. Coop passed away suddenly in October 2019, and this event started as a way to continue his legacy in the central Iowa community.

Proceeds from this event support our UMPS CARE Charities Official Leadership Program – a 6-week course for teens which trains teens in umpiring mechanics on the field while teaching lessons on financial literacy, goal setting and conflict resolution in the classroom. Graduates of the course have the special opportunity to go to an Iowa Cubs game and meet the umpire crew for a Q&A.

This fundraiser ensures that the class is free to local teens.

We are grateful to the Iowa Cubs, the Cooper Family, J.P. Richardson and Central Iowa Sports, Travis Gorsch and the Iowa Foundation, Midland Credit Union, Travis and Janet Simpson, MLB Umpire Supervisor Mike Everitt and the Everitt Family, Jim and Deanna Reynolds, Larry and Joan Young, Joe Nelson, Heath Banks, Todd Carlson, Larry Jacobus at Mentor Iowa, Cindy Holmes, Amy and Jaime Ridgway, Colleen and Michael Dougherty, the Carpenter Family, Jody Kimberley, and all of our past sponsors and participants for making this event such a success!
