The Major League Baseball Umpire crew working the Los Angeles Angels’ series against the Cincinnati Reds, took time out to give back to kids undergoing treatment at Rady Children’s Hospital Orange County.
Chris Conroy, John Tumpane, Jeremie Rehak and Brennan Miller hand delivered 100 Build-A-Bear Workshop® furry friends to kids and brought smiles to their faces and to the faces of their caregivers!
Today’s delivery marks our 236th visit to a children’s hospital since our program started in 2006. Including this visit, UMPS CARE has delivered 24,065 Build-A-Bear® furry friends to children undergoing medical treatment in pediatric hospitals across the country and in Canada.
“The umpires are so excited that they have now delivered more than 24,000 Build-A-Bear® furry friends to kids,” said UMPS CARE Charities Executive Director Jennifer Skolochenko-Platt. “That is a huge milestone, and we are proud and humbled to have created so many smiles for children and their families over the years.”
This visit was made possible due to the generosity of employees at US Foods who raised funds by running in the OC Fair Run in Costa Mesa, California, earlier this month. Special thanks to our partners at US Foods, Major League Baseball, Major League Baseball Umpire Association (MLBUA) and our donors for their financial and volunteer support for the Blue for Kids hospital program.
