The Official Leadership Program
There is a nationwide shortage of sports officials, and UMPS CARE Charities and Major League Baseball Umpires have created a one-of-a-kind course to address this issue. This 6-week course is designed to teach umpiring mechanics and life skills to teens. We are able to provide this course for free thanks to our generous sponsors. We also provide avenues and connections for teens to start working on the field and discounts to purchase starter equipment. Special thanks to everyone who has supported this program.

Major League Baseball Umpire Mark Carlson takes time out to share his umpiring journey and teach some umpiring mechanics to teens in Chicago. Every graduate from our Official Leadership Program is invited to meet MLB Umpires before games.
We are grateful for the support of Gatorade for this program.
One of the goals of this program is remove as many financial barriers in becoming an umpire. Our friends at Ump Attire provide loaner equipment for our programs and credit for graduates that can be used to purchase umpiring equipment.
