UMPS CARE Charities, the official philanthropy of the Major League Baseball Umpires, announced the addition of Jessica Starkovich to its staff. Starkovich will take on the role of manager of programs, development and administration for the charity.

Starkovich, of San Tan Valley, Arizona, comes to UMPS CARE Charities after working as innovation manager for Massage Envy Corporate and Director for Inspire Greatness Aveda Institutes and Salons. In addition to her management background, she worked with charity events.

“I come from a baseball family, and I have always loved volunteering for UMPS CARE at the Golf Classic in Arizona,” Starkovich said. “The umpire community is a very charitable one, and I am excited to work for a great team and a great cause.”

Jessica’s husband, Jason, worked as a Minor League Baseball umpire and currently works for Major League Baseball as an umpire development supervisor.

Founded in 2006 through the compassion of the Major League Baseball Umpires, the charity now has four full-time staff members. The 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization is led by Executive Director Jennifer Skolcohenko-Platt and the headquarters are in Edgewater, Maryland.

“We are thrilled to add Jessica to our crew,” said UMPS CARE Charities President Gary Darling, a retired MLB Umpire who spent nearly three decades working in the Big Leagues. “We have grown so much in recent years, expanding our programs and our reach. At UMPS CARE, we always say that Helping People Is An Easy Call, and with this hire, we are looking forward to helping even more people.”
